Rupy Cheema Tut was born in Chandigarh, Punjab and immigrated to the United States when she was 11 years old. Rupy retains a strong connection with her Punjabi
Sikh background which continues to inspire and guide her artwork.
Upon arriving to the United States, she integrated quickly into the Western culture, but kept the traditions and experiences of Punjab close to her. Whether it
be the beauty of an old village door, or the patterns of her grandmother's dupatta, these lasting impressions manifest themselves in her artwork.
Rupy works with many mediums including acrylics, water colors, pastels, oils, pens, pencils and ceramics. Her formal academic training includes biology and
public health. She enjoys drinking tea, boliyaan, Punjabi poetry and any new experience that helps her in her creativity.
