How we use the information you share with us
This page explains how Sikhlens collects and uses personal information when you visit our website, register for a festival or program, donate, or join our email list. We do not sell your personal information.
Last updated August 25, 2026. This is a draft of our current practice, not legal advice. A lawyer should review it.
Who we are
Sikhlens is the public name of The Cyber Sikh Organization, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Questions about this page: email info@sikhlens.com.
Information we collect
Depends on what you do on the site:
- Contact, trainer, festival, and donation forms: name, email, phone, and the details you type into that form.
- Festival checkout: ticket choice, guest count, payment status, and order ID.
- Donations: amount, frequency, and the name and email we need for a receipt.
- Newsletter: your email, and first and last name when you give them.
- Website use: pages you visit, through Google Analytics. That tool uses cookies.
We also use a short bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile) on some forms so we can tell a person from automated spam.
How we use it
- Answer a message you sent us.
- Register you for a festival, RSVP, or Digital Voice trainer program.
- Process a ticket payment or donation and send a confirmation or receipt.
- Email you our newsletter only if you check the opt-in box, or if you subscribe on the site yourself.
- Keep records we need as a nonprofit (orders, donations, program registrations).
- See which pages people use so we can fix the site.
Newsletter
The newsletter box on our forms starts unchecked. If you check it, we store your email on our own list (date, and which form you used). We send those emails with Resend. We do not use Mailchimp. When we start sending, every email will have an unsubscribe link. You can also email info@sikhlens.com and ask us to remove you.
Who we share it with
We share information with the services that run the site, not with marketers who buy lists. Today that includes:
- Resend, to send confirmation mail and, later, the newsletter.
- Stripe, for ticket and donation payments.
- Google, for Analytics and for staff copies of some registrations in Google Sheets.
- Vercel and our database host, to run the website.
Staff who need the information to do the work (festival check-in, trainer outreach, bookkeeping) can see it. We do not sell it.
How long we keep it
We keep order, donation, and program records for as long as we need them for that program and for normal nonprofit recordkeeping. Newsletter addresses stay on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Your choices
- Skip the newsletter box. The form still works.
- Unsubscribe from any newsletter email, or write us and we will take you off.
- Email info@sikhlens.com to ask what we have, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. We may need to keep some payment or donation records.
California and other laws
Sikhlens is a U.S. nonprofit. We do not sell personal information. If you want to know what we have, or want it deleted, email info@sikhlens.com. We wrote this page so you can see our current practice. It is not a formal legal opinion under CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, or any other statute. If a lawyer later tells us to change it, we will.
Children
Our public forms are meant for adults. If you think a child sent us personal information, email info@sikhlens.com and we will look into it.
Changes
If we change how we use this information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
