Granthi and Kirtani (Sikh religious official and singer of Sikh hymns) | Espanola, NM Satkirin grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in a Jewish immigrant family. Seeking a spiritual experience, she left graduate school to begin her quest and went to the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar, India to study Sikhism. There she had a deeply transformative experience with the musical practice of kirtan (singing of Sikh hymns) and converted at age 24.

Over decades, Satkirin has been dedicated to teaching and building community through kirtan in Los Angeles, California and New York, New York. She delights in extensive study with kirtan masters, and performs worldwide with many well-known ragis (Sikh singers). Satkirin has released over 18 albums.

For Satkirin, kirtan provides a collective opportunity to bring the human experience into divine experience.
