The Final Frontier

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been interested in the mysteries of space and the universe. I think this was due in part to my mum ‘Shkinder Kaur’, as she has always had an interest in space exploration, which rubbed off on me.

This drawing is trying to capture that sense of amazement and wonder that I felt when I was younger looking up at the skies. Man has explored and conquered most of the known world, and has landed on the moon and put a space station in orbit.

But, since the moon landings over 40-50 years ago, space exploration had become stagnant, so my interest in space exploration died down. But over the last few years, space has become more exciting and the possibilities now seem amazing. With the advances in technology, and most importantly, the frozen water found on Mars, it is only a matter of time before human beings go to the next step of exploring Mars.

I am also a huge Sci-Fi movie fan, and I was always fascinated by movies or TV series that were set in space. Some of my favourite movies were 2001 a Space Odyssey, Aliens, Star Wars, and these movies would give me a glimpse of what might lay behind our solar system and universe. Although I had never been a big Star Trek fan, I felt the title to this drawing ‘The Final Frontier‘ was a fitting title.
