On the outskirts of Lahore, on the Raiwind Road to Manak, at a distance from the road, one can see the dome of the crumbling Pehli Pathshahi Gurdwara. It was built in the memory of Guru Nanak's visit on his return from Sultanpur Lodhi.

A sprawling complex on 82 ghumaon of land, it once consisted of a baradari, diwan hall and samadhs of Udasi sadhus. In the pre-partition period, this gurdwara was a fulcrum of secularity, where members of Sikh, Hindu and Muslim communities would gather during the Vaisakhi fair to collectively partake in the langar.

After 1947, when the entire Sikh community of the village migrated to India, a girls' school was housed in the gurdwara complex for a few years. As the building started falling apart, the school was shifted and the premises were abandoned.

Thereafter, refugees occupied the gurdwara and have since made it their home.
