Hair has a special significance in the Sikh way of life. Considered as as extension of the body, followers of the faith are beckoned by tradition and practice to don unshorn hair. Many do and many don't. It's a knotty situation.

I attended the Memorial Day parade in Great Neck, New York in 2016.
