KUTCHERY or ROYAL COURT (also Atth Dara or Pavilion of Eight Arches) is an addition to the Sheesh Mahal by Ranjit Singh. It was where he received his ministers, generals and closest advisers. The domed structure on the rooftop was Ranjit Singh's personal GURDWARA where he retreated each morning to meditate on gurbani.

The court scene has been immortalized in a painting by August Schoefft which currently covers an entire wall in the museum located in Rani Jindan's Apartments.
