Harmandir Sahib, popularly known as the Golden Temple is the sanctum sanctorum of the Sikhs in the Holy City of Amritsar. Its foundation stone was laid by a Sufi Muslim Saint, Sai Mian Mir in 1588 AD at the invitation of Fifth Sikh Guru Arjan Dev.

Its four doors, one in each direction, are open to all castes, creed and communities, to reach One Omnipresent God.
