The Singh Twins

The 2005 Sikhpoint Calendar features the art of the Singh Twins, Amrit and Rabindra K.D. Kaur Singh, London-born twin sisters. They call their work Past-Modern and work in a revival of the Indian miniature tradition. Their paintings are in collections including Glasgow's Gallery of Modern Art, the Royal Museum of Scotland, and the Smithsonian.

In 2002 a British Council tour opened at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi. They were then the only British artists besides Henry Moore offered a solo there. Granada TV made Singh Out Sisters. An Arts Council film, Alone Together, won Best Film on Art at Asolo in 2001.

The intro also carries a short primer on Sikh living that ran in these early wall years: Sikhism as the world's fifth largest religion, one formless God, equality, the five articles of faith, and the note that the vast majority of turbaned men in the United States are Sikhs. January opens with Mr. Singh's India (1999/2000), commissioned for Glasgow.
