In addition to acquiring existing artworks of Sikh relevance, the Royal Ontario Museum commissioned a new painting from The Singh Twins, titled, 'Sikhs in Canada' which offers a snap shot of Sikh history in Canada from the artists' personal experience and perspective. It reflects the universal rags to riches migrant story characterized by trials and tribulation but overall, presents a celebratory image of the community's development since the earliest days to more recent times.

Real life personalities from the pioneer years (taken from archival imagery) sit alongside modern day figures and other imagery sourced from the internet, which collectively symbolize the diversity, achievements and shared heritage of the global Sikh community.

A community for whom the universal outlook of Sikhism with its principles of equality, hard work and service to society have remained the bedrock of their faith and their ability to succeed and make major contributions to all walks of life wherever they have settled. Elsewhere, certain decorative details such as the maple and paisley motifs, signify a community that is proud to be both Canadian and Sikh.
