Hazrat Baba Haji Sher is one of the earliest Muslim Sufi Saints in the Indo-Pak subcontinent. He was born to a Hindu family and embraced Islam after his visit to Medina. He spent his life immersed in Sufi mysticism at this village where he breathed his last in 730 AD.

Guru Nanak in his travels across the Punjab had spent considerable time at the shrines of Sufi mystics like, Baba Farid at Pakpattan, Hazrat Shah Shams Tabrez in Multan and Hazrat Baba Haji Sher at Chak 317/EB. This gurdwara was constructed by the Sikhs of this region in memory of Guru Nanak's visit to the shrine of Hazrat Baba Haji Sher.

After the departure of the entire Sikh population in 1947, the gurdwara served as the residence of a migrant family. In the year 2007, the Evacuee Trust Property Board undertook the restoration of the building. The migrant family still resides in the compound of the gurdwara and have now been employed by the Evacuee Trust Property Board as caretakers.

The gurdwara, which has been restored, now eagerly awaits a flow of Sikh devotees who seldom visit this part of Pakistan.
